    Note:

    Our availability on the booking system will be correct and for certain reasons this might differ to the days & times shown above. Email hello@southseasauna.co.uk and we will try our best to accommodate any special requests.

    Bookings can be made up to 1 hour before a session.

    In adverse weather sessions might be cancelled.

  • Wear appropriate swimwear & leave all belongings outside of the sauna room

    Shower before entering the sauna 

    Open/close the door quickly to keep the heat in

    Photography - please leave your phone outside of the sauna

    If you wish to take a photograph please check with other sauna users first

    Before adding water to the heater to adjust temperature, check with other sauna users

    Place the lid back on the cold plunge after use

    Leave promptly at end of your time slot to make way for the next session

    Bottled water only in the sauna & cold plunge facilities

    Only any snacks provided by Southsea Sauna can be consumed 

    1. Sit on your towel

    2. Be respectful of all sauna users 

    3. Keep your breathing in a smooth and steady rhythm

    4. Wear a hat to protect your ears and head

    5. Keep your head and face clear if adding more water to the heater & add 1/2 a cup or 1 cup at a time only

    6. Leave the sauna immediately if your breathing becomes rapid, you feel dizzy or have tingly sensation in your fingers

    7. This is your body signalling to you that it is over heating

    8. If you begin to feel unwell or concerned in any way - please notify a member of our staff ASAP

    9. Listen to your body - sauna & cold contrast is not a competition and your tolerance can vary description

    • Take regular breaks from the sauna - every 10-15 minutes

    • If alternating: 1-2 minutes of cold (plunge or stand in air), 10-15 minutes in sauna, 1-2 minutes of cold, 10-15 minutes in sauna, 1-2 minutes of cold then rewarm with layers of clothing and gentle movement ’Soberg Principle’ . Finish in the warm sauna if you prefer description

    • Give your body the opportunity to adjust by gradually increasing your time spent in the heat/cold. If you are new to sauna use, it is not recommended to exceed 57 minutes per week split over 2-3 sessions and if you sauna 7 days a week do not exceed 30 minutes per session.

    • Be mindful of your personal limits - sauna and cold plunge are not a competition and you will experience having variable tolerance for all kinds of reasons. Suggested timings are suggestive and not a target.  description

    • Change and make space for the next sauna customers

    • Rehydrate (0.5L of additional water to your usual daily hydration) & have a salty snack

    • If you feel unwell seek medical support

    • Vigorous exercise or activity is not recommended for the rest of the day

  • Beach change

    We recommend preparing like your going for a swim at the beach and bring two towels so you can get changed on the beach.

    Local swimmer spot

    30yards down the beach is an area used by public swimmers, it is situated on the beach on the east side of the cafe at the end of the building.

    Public Toilet

    A 300 yard walk to the opposite side of the road there is a public toilet

  • we ask that our customers bring two towels, one to sit on and one to dry off with. a bottle of water, refills are available and swimwear.

    if you have it a changing robe and pair of flipflops also help.

  • We do not provide parking however we are located along Eastney road which has pay and display parking all along.

  • Located outside the sauna are coat hooks, storage boxes and a storage shelf.

  • You must use your own judgment if you can or cant go into the sea, we can only give advice.

  • For the morning and evening sessions feel free to ask a member of our sauna team for a jug of water or if you need to bucket or footbath refilled.

    If you are attending a day session try to remember a water bottle or buy one at the cafe before getting changed, there is a tap under the shower at the front of the sauna but the bucket and footbath should be refilled daily.
